How to Use an Electric Dab Rig
There is no doubt that dabbing technology is more advanced than it was 10 years ago. More dabbing hardware is making its way onto the market, and many of this hardware relies on electronic features that make the act of dabbing far easier than it ever was. Electric dab rigs aren’t the newest addition to the hardware scene, but these devices are growing in popularity. Why? Because they are becoming quite high-tech in a way that gives dabbers impressive levels of control over their experience.
If you’re going to invest in an electric dab rig, it’s good to know ahead of time how it works and how to use it properly. These kits come with user manuals that allow you to understand all of their features and settings, and each one is unique. But, in the most general sense, they all follow the same principles regarding how to operate them for a successful dab.
What Can Electric Dab Rigs Offer Over Analog Setups?
A traditional dab rig is fully analog, consisting of a pipe-like device that utilizes a nail which is heated to a high temperature before the concentrate is placed onto it. This requires the use of a butane torch that brings the nail up to temperature, and this is where things can get complicated as any time a nail is heated manually, it’s hard to offer precise temperature control and consistency between individual dab hits. Electric dab rigs do all of the heating for you with internal mechanisms that ensure consistency and precise temperature control time and time again. Further, they come with lots of features that you just can’t get from a standard analog rig.
What is the Basic Process of Using an Electric Dab Rig
Each model is unique in terms of how settings are adjusted and its basic functions. But, this general guide applies to all electric dab rigs, and gives you an idea of what to expect once you’ve a e-dab rig in your possession.
Note: Follow the user manual that comes with your new electric dab rig to make sure you’re using it correctly and taking advantage of all of its different features.
Step #1: Make sure your rig is properly assembled and powered, and that your accessories (dab tool, carb cap, etc.) are also ready for use along with your concentrate.
Step #2: Remove the top of the nail and place it inside of the coil. Now, attach the nail to your rig. Make sure it’s completely secure.
Step #3: Attach the power cord to your dab rig and then plug it in. Turn the rig on.
Step #4: It’s important to season the nail the first time you use your rig. Set the temperature to 750 degrees using the temperature adjustment on the device and then wait 1 to 2 minutes before the temperature is reached.
Step #5: Apply a small amount of concentrate to your nail and use your dab tool to swirl it around the base of the nail. This coats the nail in a thin layer of oil, which will improve flavor later on when it’s time to dab.
Step #6: From there, you can get ready to enjoy your first electric dabbing session.
- Initially prime the nail by heating it to 800 degrees, before readjusting it to the temperature you wish to dab at.
- Wait 1 to 2 minutes, and then set your temperature somewhere between 350 and 800 degrees (most people dab at somewhere between 500 to 700 degrees).
- Your rig will tell you when the nail is at the right temperature to begin dabbing.
Step #7: Grab your dab tool and use it to transfer your concentrate onto the nail. Use -your carb cap while it heats if desired, to trap the heat and concentrate the vapor and flavor.
Final Step: Now, inhale through the mouthpiece, and repeat until satisfied.
Newbie or Experienced Enthusiast: Electric Dab Rigs Can Make Your Dabbing Life Easier and More Enjoyable
You can find all kinds of great rigs on the market nowadays that are all designed to give you nothing but smooth, flavorful, and consistent dab hits for maximum satisfaction. With that said, here are a few quick tips to also keep in mind.
Tip #1: Choose Your Rig Wisely
Remember, each electric dab rig is unique, so you’ll want to make sure that you use it properly. Otherwise, you may not be able to fully take advantage of its various capabilities. Electric dab rigs range in size, features, quality and price. Choose yours wisely by really taking the time to explore what’s available. Consider how advanced you want your rig to be based on your level of experience, since models range from user-friendly to very complex for more experienced users.
Tip #2: Fully Read the Manual
Most people disregard their user manual, but we recommend you read it thoroughly. Otherwise, you may miss out on some pretty awesome features that you didn’t know about, which can dramatically improve your dabbing experience.
Tip #3: Clean Your Dab Rig Regularly
Just like a standard, analog rig, electric dab rigs need to be cleaned regularly so that they continue to satisfy you in terms of both flavor and performance. Naturally, an electric rig requires a different method of cleaning than one that’s analog. Again, refer to the user manual for precise cleaning instructions.
