What to Do if You’re Not Feeling the Full Effects of THC-P

Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P) has gotten a lot of hype over the last year or so, because it’s the most intoxicating cannabinoid in all of cannabis – about 10x as psychoactive as delta 9 THC. Naturally, the large, large majority of people who use it get really high off of it, in any product type, strain, and what have you. But, what if you invested in a THC-P product, took a dose, and didn’t actually feel anything?

Well, we’re gonna cover why you might not be getting the results you were hoping for with THC-P. As you will see, there is almost always a surprisingly simple explanation, and just as simple of a solution.

What if I’m Not Getting Anything Out of My THC-P Product?

Tetrahydrocannabiphorol is a cannabinoid that has 7 carbon atoms on its side chain. The reason why this matters is because all of those carbon atoms allow the cannabinoid to attach to cannabinoid receptors in the brain exceptionally well. THC-P binds to these receptors about 33x more efficiently than delta 9 THC, which means that the cannabinoid is just, well, extremely potent.

Now, that should guarantee that taking even a little will get you incredibly high, right? It should, in theory, but sometimes, cannabis can be a tricky business. The relationship between cannabinoid receptors in the brain and the cannabinoids in hemp can be complicated at times, which’s something most of us already know – after all, many of us find that we experience the effects of, say, weed differently throughout different phases of our lives.

So, with that being said, what should you do then, when your THC-P product just isn’t hitting as advertised? Well, here’s our advice, and as you will quickly learn, there are actually multiple reasons why that can happen.

Try Again Next Time

Sometimes, for reasons we’ll never totally understand, those cannabinoids just don’t want to work. This is true of any cannabis product – one day we’re high beyond belief, and the next day we keep taking more and more, with very little effect. There are a host of variable that influence how we are affected by cannabinoids, i.e.: our hormonal balance, the state of our immune systems, and even what and how much we ate. This is why our “high” can feel different when we’re hungry versus full, and when we’re sick vs. healthy.

What’s the solution? Simple. Try again the next day and see if you still get the same disappointing results.

Up Your Dose

Of course, sometimes, it’s just that you didn’t take enough. Now, we know that THC-P is very powerful in terms of its psychoactive properties. But, that doesn’t mean that you should take so little of it that you barely get any results. Follow the dosing guidelines on the label to make sure you’re taking enough of the cannabinoid to actually feel something.

Keep in mind that sometimes, even the recommended dose is too low. Again, for reasons that are usually tough to pin down, some of us just need higher doses than what’s considered average in order to get high.

Now, if you are going to up that dose, make sure you do it in small increments. In other words, if one THC-P gummy didn’t do the trick, don’t down 10 gummies next time, because chances are that’ll be way too much.

Consider the Strain

Sometimes, believe it or not, the strain is the culprit – if you’re using a product that is full-spectrum, and comes in specific strain choices. Again, due to the complicated relationship between cannabis and the human body, once in a while, you may actually come across a strain that doesn’t seem to really affect you at all. If you haven’t considered it already, try going with another strain to see what happens – preferably one that’s known for being more potent.

Make Sure the Product is Legit

Maybe the issue is that the product you’re using just isn’t legit, in that it doesn’t contain an effective enough amount of THC-P, or worse, it doesn’t even contain any THC-P at all, in which case it’s a fake. Basically, you should always buy your THC-P from a reputable retailer, and check the third-party lab reports, which will immediately reveal whether or not the product is legit, not to mention potent enough in its THC-P content to give you real results.

Make Sure the Product was Stored Properly/Didn’t Expire

Another thing that can make a difference is how the product was stored, and how fresh it is. In general, most THC-P products start to lose their potency after 2 years if they contain an extract, while flower and dabs can expire after just 6 months. Besides that, if the product wasn’t kept in an airtight container, in a dark, dry, and cool place, it can oxidize quickly, and lose its potency very fast.

Consider What Else Might Be in Your System

Other substances in your body can alter how THC-P takes effect. Alcohol, caffeine, other intoxicants, and medications can all change up the way in which that cannabinoid feels, in surprising ways. So, unless you’re taking something out of necessity, like, say, a medication, try THC-P without any other mind-altering substance in your body, and see what happens.

Switch Up the Product Type

If you’ve only tried one THC-P product type, like, say, a tincture, and you’re not satisfied, try a different product type. Some product types are less bioavailable than others, with edibles at the bottom of the list, and inhalable products (flower, vapes, dabs) being the most bioavailable, and therefore the most potent and likely to satisfy.

Ask Yourself if You Need a Tolerance Break

If you’re a long-time cannabis user, the issue could very well be that your tolerance is so overdeveloped that you’re just not easily affected by intoxicating cannabinoids – even ones that are extremely strong, like THC-P. If that’s the case, then try taking 2 days off of all cannabis products. For most people, that’s all they need to get their tolerance back to a more reasonable place.

THC-P is Usually Very Powerful, But Sometimes, Things Can Go Wrong (But Don’t Fear)

Overall, tetrahydrocannabiphorol is a cannabinoid that is extremely likely to intoxicate you like no other cannabis product out there. But again, once in a while, you may come across a day where it just isn’t doing the trick. Fortunately, there’s almost always a good reason, and rarely is the issue that THC-P just doesn’t work with your body. So, consider all of these options above, and make sure you’re grabbing the best THC-P products possible, like the wide variety of THCP products available at The Calm Leaf.
